After nine months of anxiously waiting, our special day, May 6th, 2017 had finally arrived – and it was the perfect. It was chilly 52 degree rainy Spring day, but the city’s greenery never looked so lush.
Ryan and I decided long ago we wanted to have plenty of time prior to our evening ceremony to capture some photos – just he and I. When I walked out for our first look moment and we saw each other for the first time, I think our hearts burst simultaneously. We took advantage of the afternoon light and traveled to the South Avenue parking garage to hide from the rain yet embrace our city we love so dearly.
Under fifty people in the beautifully lit Makers Gallery & Studio, our ceremony began with my father and I entering to the piece ‘Opus 23’ from my favorite composer Dustin O’Halloran. I fell in love with his work just weeks before Ryan and I met and many of his compositions bring me back to us almost three years ago – already hopelessly in love. A sheet of paper flowers made by my wonderful mother hung before us as we delivered our written vows hand in hand with tears of joy in our eyes. Though all our loved ones were in the room before us, all I could focus on was my best friend whom I was pledging my life to as our past, present and future flashed before my eyes. We then shared a prayer and joined in communion as husband and wife, unifying us in our faith and commitment to Christ. Following, we shared our first dance ‘Nobody Loves me Like you” by Low Roar – the song we would sing together while in Yosemite for the Summer.
It’s true what people say, the rest of the night was there and gone in a flash. Nothing but tasty blueberry lemon cocktails, endless dancing and those we hold closest to us in the same room at once. It truly was the most magical evening of my life! I’m a blessed woman to be loved by my incredible husband and all of our family and friends.
Now, for the wild yet beautiful yet unpredicatable yet exciting journey of marriage to begin.
*** Thank you so much to our good friends Will Cornfield & Meghan Marin for capturing our special day. More to come! Also to Stacy K Floral for making my dream boutique a reality!
